What are "The Balds"?
"The Balds" are a group of extra-normal humanoid beings. Some are born human and later become something more, while others are Balds from the moment of their birth. The Balds are divergent of the Homo-Sapien species known as Homo-Baldien. Many of them possess special abilities that could be perceived as powers, and almost all of them have personality defects. By human standards, the majority of Balds would be considered to have social or personality disorders.
Abilities
As stated above, almost all of The Balds possess extra-normal abilities, making them extremely powerful. Some examples of these powers include:
Superhuman speed – Some Balds are able to run faster than most athletes, but a select few are able to travel great distances in a matter of milliseconds at Mach speeds.
Superhuman strength – As above, many Balds have strength to rival professional athletes, however some have the ability to easily lift an entire building above their heads with little effort.
Telepathy – Some Balds are able to read the thoughts of others.
Physical law-bending – Some Balds have the ability to suspend the effects of certain laws of physics on themselves, such as removing any grip they may have to the ground, allowing them to slide around as if they were wearing ice shoes while standing on a frozen lake.
Flight – Some Balds have the ability to float or levitate at will.
Hyper intelligence – The vast majority of Balds possess extremely high intelligence across almost all subjects, however almost all of them simply choose not to engage their minds in a conventional manner. Most Balds could easily become highly successful scientists, teachers, or extremely wealthy individuals, but instead choose to remain in school for several decades or work in a takeaway.
Enhanced perception – All Balds appear to possess a level of perception far beyond that of the average human, with the ability to absorb and process information without even focusing on it.
Physics warping – In extremely rare cases the fundamental laws of physics themselves can be altered by a Bald. This ability allows the user to bend or override the behaviour of reality itself, affecting gravity, time, motion, or distance. Only two Balds are known to possess this capability: The Master and Bald Leon. The Master appears fully aware of this ability and is capable of using it deliberately, while Bald Leon unintentionally causes distortions without ever realising that he is responsible.
Appearance
Despite the name "The Balds", having no hair is not a requirement. Not every hairless being is a Bald, and not every Bald lacks hair.
To recognise a Bald, one must usually look for a person who simply does not seem to fit in socially. A complete reject with no obvious redeeming qualities may in fact be a Bald. If not, they are simply weird.
Balds will often wear unusual or extravagant clothing, although some appear completely normal at first glance.
Behaviour
Balds generally behave in ways that most humans would consider irrational, immature, or socially unacceptable. Despite their high intelligence and extraordinary abilities, Balds rarely pursue productive or ambitious goals.
Many Balds spend long periods of time in education without ever leaving, while others take on simple jobs such as working in takeaways or local shops despite having the intelligence to easily dominate fields such as science, engineering, or politics.
Balds also show a strong tendency toward chaos, destruction, and impulsive behaviour. This often results in large-scale property damage, unusual public disturbances, or events that cannot be easily explained.
Despite this, Balds themselves rarely view their behaviour as unusual.
Society
There is no known organised Bald civilisation. Balds appear to live scattered among normal human populations, often without drawing attention to their true nature.
Some Balds are aware of other Balds and may form loose friendships or rivalries (usually rivalries), however there is no formal hierarchy or governing structure among them.
One exception to this appears to be The Master, a Bald who is regarded by some as a father figure or guiding presence. The Master is widely believed to possess god-like abilities and appears to be fully aware of his capacity to manipulate the laws of reality.
Known Balds
Several Bald individuals have been documented.
Bald Leon – A Bald capable of accidentally distorting the laws of physics themselves, although he appears completely unaware that he possesses this ability.
The Master – One of the most powerful Balds known. The Master is believed to possess complete awareness of his ability to manipulate the laws of physics and is often regarded as a god-like figure among Balds.
Bald Ben – A known associate of Bald Leon, often involved in destructive or chaotic situations.
Bald Jack – Despite the name, Bald Jack displays absolutely zero Bald tendencies and possesses none of the known Bald abilities. He is, by all observable measures, simply a normal person who shaved his head and started tagging along.
Documented Example
A notable example of Bald Leon’s unintentional physics distortion occurred during an attempt to construct what he claimed to be a “perfectly functional time machine”.
The device itself consisted primarily of scrap wood, several loose nails, a broken microwave door, two bicycle wheels, and a kitchen timer taped to the side of the structure. By all conventional scientific understanding, the machine should not have functioned in any capacity.
But it worked.
