Status: AliveRankin was an original member of the old Fumin 5 from the First World War all the way through to the middle of the Cold War. He did not fight on the side of the Western powers, or the East, in fact, he sided with a country technically not even involved in the conflict, Zimbabwe. He sided with the Zimbabweans due to him foreseeing the threat of recipe sharing in NATO and member states of the Warsaw Pact.
Rankin was born with the godlike power of "being hard" and could outclass any mortal in hand-to-hand combat, being able to punch through flesh with ease, even the flesh of lesser gods can be punched through easily by him. It is said that he once was even able to beat the impenetrable unit of a god "Book" in a fight, making his nose bleed.
In his early life Rankin worked on a farm for his dad, he worked for his right to stay at the family house. Eventually, he found out his father was in debt to a gang running the Eastern outer Wirral area, "owing" them protection money. One night they came to the farm house armed with guns so Rankin came out and punched the leader. His head came clean off with ease, the rest ran away and never fucked with them again.
His father was scared of his own so and the power he possessed, so he kicked him out of the house with no money, So Rankin was forced to walk to the streets of Chester, committing petty crimes to make ends meet. Eventually he was picked up by the police and since war had broken out by this time, his punishment was given in the form of a conscription to the military.
Once during a battle, when he was pinned down and running out of ammunition, Rankin ran out of the enemy trench into no-mans-land, taking bullets and bombardments like nothing. He entered the enemy trench and killed everyone with ease. After his commander saw what he did he was imprisoned but later released and introduced to a forming "Superhero" Team called the Fumin' 5. Led by Si and featuring Book AKA the human tank.
After world war 2 until the early 70s it was a peaceful time for the 5, the team had no enemies to defeat so the Cheshire hotel corporation used them as marketing even using Rankin to make a few Christmas albums. He appeared on daytime television and also did charity work to help raise money for anyone in need. Si and Book secretly started to hate Rankin due to this, and the goodwill the public had afforded exclusively to him, This is the reason Si may have sold his whereabouts to the Zimbabwean CEO to keep him away from telling the world.
When released he went cold turkey from violence and retired to Wigan and found his true calling in making sigma edits for Instagram. He had missed so much of the modern world since being trapped in the mid 80s so he made the most of it when free. He had given up the violent outbursts but slowly started to come to the realisation that neither Si or Book had ever even bothered to break him out knowing he was being help captive.
Throughout the history of the Fumin' 5, he was always nice to Chef Si's son, Mitch, and at times even viewed him as a friend, believing Mitch to be misunderstood.
