THE DISASTROUS TALE OF THE BALDS. CHAPTER 16: THE DUALITY OF JACK

THE DISASTROUS TALE OF THE BALDS.

CHAPTER 16: THE DUALITY OF JACK

Soldiers piled into the room, preparing to eliminate all non-agency members

"Wait!" screamed Bald Jack

The soldiers bursting through the door paused, still keeping their guns raised and aimed at the assorted balds.

"My name... is Bald Jack. Today I just found out that I'm a Bald. The first of a new kind, along with my... my twin? I think he counts as my twin. That man... Evil Bald Jack. Your leader, The Master, is dead, so why continue fighting? The agency should stand for justice, and scientific developments, not violence against balds just because they're different. So what do you say? Why don't we all relax and get around the table?"

The soldiers exchanged looks between each other and one by one, slowly lowered their guns, and everyone let out a sigh of relief. The still floating Evil Bald Jack's hands began to glow with energy, and he threw out his arms, firing red lightning out of his fingers, flying past the balds, and vaporising the soldiers. The lightning began to spread wildly, jumping to the walls, inside of which were the hidden pipes for gas and water for the facility. The lightning lit the gas main, blowing up the wall and collapsing the corridor's ceiling, burying the balds beneath the debris.

Evil Bald Jack surveyed the destruction in his wake, firing a few random bolts into the pile of rubble before him. He moved over the wreckage, making his way through the facility without touching the floor. Evil Bald Jack came to the realisation that he had all of the memories of the original Bald Jack, and due to this, he could remember the layout of the facility, including the location of the prison level.

He began to float through the facility in the direction of the archives. He became aware of a loud blaring siren, indicating that the facility was on a full lockdown. He approached a thick, galvanised, steel door, and with a wave of his hand, the door flew from its hinges like the frame was made of tissue paper. On the other side of the door was a platoon of soldiers, who all opened fire upon Evil Bald Jack in a panic against the floating menace, but with another flick of his finger and a thunderstorm of crimson lightning, the soldiers turned to ash.

As he got closer and closer to the archives, more and more soldiers tried to stop him but did nothing more than delay his unending progress. He entered the archives and found yet more soldiers. However, these soldiers were waiting for him. The agency let loose on Evil Bald Jack with all the firepower of their collected weapons. Heat rays, static rifles, miniaturised black holes, modified grenades and guns that seemed to include assisted targeting systems. The bizarre collection of attacks hit Evil Bald Jack like a nuclear bomb, flooring him under the immense force. Even while he was down, the agency soldiers did not stop their attack, flattening Evil Bald Jack against the floor. Evil Bald Jack's palm pressed hard against the concrete floor, as the attack on him had burned through the archive lobby carpet. He pushed himself onto his knees, enduring the assault, then up onto his feet, at which point he let out a rage-filled blast of energy turning the entire room, tables, chairs, shelves and soldiers, all into ash.

The secret door had been reduced to nothing, exposing the secret sub-level. To Evil Bald Jack's surprise, he encountered no further resistance. He soon realised that although it was likely there were still soldiers throughout the facility, Every soldier in the area had gathered to stop him in the room he had just cleared of all life. He continued through the empty hallways towards the prison wing. Of course, most of the prisoners had already been released, escaped or killed, But Evil Bald Jack knew that there had to be a few left hidden somewhere. If he knew anything about the agency, it was that due to their paranoia, there were sure to be hidden rooms within hidden rooms.

His eyes darted around the prison wing as he scanned the wall for any signs. His eyes lingered on a part of the wall that was asymmetrical to the rest. On both sides of the walls, there were cells, but on this particular section, parallel to another cell, there was a section of wall with some notices suspended upon it. The small area was being used as a control point, with a desk in front of it, appearing to be somewhere for guards to monitor from. Evil Bald Jack floated over to the wall, throwing the desk to the side out of his way with his mind, and he then ran his hand up and down the wall, feeling the concrete. He drew back his fist and plunged it into the wall. As he pulled his hand back out of the wall, the hairs of his stubble began to blow in the breeze, and small rays of light crept out after the wind. The wall was hollow.

He began to pound the wall with his fists, slamming into the concrete and punching the wall to pieces, with debris flying into both sides of the wall. Eventually, an opening large enough to fit two men at a time had been created, and Evil Bald Jack floated through the gap. He observed that the room was a secret prison within the secret prison, and he wondered who could be so dangerous that they would be kept there.

Examining the cells, he got his answer. Cell one contained Skinwalker Leon, the very same bald that had been used to motivate Bald Leon, Bald Ben and the original Bald Jack to aid the agency in the first place. He'd been here the whole time, and the agency had used the presence of Bald Leon and the Creator to mask that Skinwalker Leon was in the very same building, all so that the agency could trick the balds into hunting down more of their own kind.

Skinwalker Leon sensed the presence of Evil Bald Jack, and a strange clicking noise was muttered out of his throat. Skinwalker Leon slithered onto his feet and pressed his hands against the bars threateningly, but then something stopped him. Evil Bald Jack looked upon the faceless creature, staring into its soul, and the creature backed away from the bars of its cell, terrified at the true monster which was standing before it.

"You and I were both used as pawns by the Agency for a higher agenda. What say we have one of our own?" offered Evil Bald Jack

Skinwalker Leon slowly emerged from the shadows at the back of his cell and clicked a few times to signify agreement. Evil Bald Jack nodded and with a single thought, the metal frame holding the prison bars was yanked free, bending and steering the steel against the thick rock wall parallel to the cell.

Meanwhile, Bald Jack, Bald Ben, Gerkin and Bald Leon had been split up from the rest of the group after Evil Bald Jack's attack, cutting the team in half with a pile of rubble. Bald Jack stood halfway up the rubble pile trying to get a message through to his allies.

"if you guys can hear me, you're on the right side of the corridor to get out of here, go on ahead without us, we'll find another way out!"

"Okay!" called back a muffled but familiar voice.

Bald Leon looked down the corridor at the trail of destruction Evil Bald Jack left behind.

"I reckon if we follow the way he's gone, we won't come across any more agents, at least not any alive ones," he said.

"I hate to agree with you, but that's probably the best option," said Gerkin

The group followed the destruction, deeper and deeper into the facility, hoping that they'd eventually find an exit created by Evil Bald Jack. They got to the secret sub-level and heard the sound of metal flying off of concrete.

Despite the lack of eyes on his adversary, Bald Leon felt Skinwalker Leon's gaze pierce into his skull. The disgusting creature lurched towards Bald Leon, grappling him and forcing him to the ground. They wrestled, rolled across the floor and swung their arms, each trying to land a punch on the other. Gerkin, Bald Ben and Bald Jack all focused on Evil Bald Jack, fighting as a unit to try and bring down the evil twin. Evil Bald Jack fired a bolt of lightning at Bald Ben, but luckily, Bald Ben's fat rolls diffused the electricity. Meanwhile, Bald Jack threw Gerkin like a baseball at Evil Bald Jack, and Gerkin began to pull at his beard hairs, rabidly ripping them out of his face. Evil Bal Ben grabbed Marmoset and threw him at the concrete wall of the prison, cracking it. Bald Ben tackled Evil Bald Jack and began to whale on him, landing blow after blow on his face, using all of his strength and not caring about the refinement of the attack. Evil Bald Jack charged up another blast of lightning, and although the attack didn't kill Bald Ben, the close range of the shock did create enough energy to force Bald Ben off of his enemy, and launch him across the room.

Bald Jack was too busy tending to Gerkin to fight his evil doppelganger, but luckily, Bald Leon had gained the upper hand against Skinwalker Leon, so Bald Leon used his speed to rocket across the room into Evil Bald Jack, engaging him in hand to hand combat, but Bald Leon was shocked to find that Evil Bald Jack could move just as fast as him, blocking each of his attacks with lightning speed. Evil Bald Jack gained the upper hand and landed a punch against Bald Leon, knocking him back and into the range of Skinwalker Leon, who was now also back on his feet. The pair hounded Bald Leon, one with strength and one with speed. Bald Leon fell onto his back, and before he could get back up, Evil Bald Jack called to his ally.

"We have no time for this. come on!"

Evil Bald Jack fired his lightning into the ceiling, creating a hole through several floors of the facility and into the outside world. He grabbed the arm of his partner and flew them both into the air and out of the facility. Bald Jack stood amongst the wreckage trying to help his defeated friends back to their feet.

"What the heck do we do now guys?"
